Non customers

Wonder why people rate what they see on a tv program, but not by the actual product produced. Go to the place and look at the cars in person, then, maybe what you say would make more sense.

It's all about the final product . . .

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I admit, and proudly so, that I am not one of Dan's customers. Rather, I am a just a schlub who has a good eye for detail, and I spit bullets every time I watch a PW episode.

I respect Dan for his service to our country, but that's where it ends. He is one hot-headed SOB who insults and demeans his employees and his customers. I have yet to see one of his finished cars that doesn't look like something out of a 1950's high school shop class. MT showcases a finished product at the end of each episode, and nearly every one shows a poorly aligned hood, door, trunk lid or bumper.

Why is it so difficult to correctly set rubber bumpers on a hood or trunk lid, or to adjust door hinges and bumper bolts? I've frequently done it myself over the years, and any simpleton with a good eye can sight-line those issues and correct them in 30 minutes. Dan demands high-end payment for low-end work, and grins in the end for successfully passing off poor quality for good money. Craftsmanship and an eye for detail are certainly not his strong suits.

So how, for the love of God, has he remained in business so long?!?

My guess is that the fortune he's made off MT's sponsorship more than subsidized his crap shop operation. Personally, I wouldn't trust PW with my riding lawnmower, much less a car that I loved.

Water in oil should have been checked before paint. Just sloppy work in winter looks like the guys are freezing I worked in a truck shop in Wisconsin we had heat to me I wouldn't take my go cart to have them fix it. His brake check I would want new tires after that no reason at all to lock up the brakes that hard to where they are flat spotted

Most people don't have a clue as to what makes vehicles tick. Then they want everything done for free no matter if it takes hours of your time, they want it for free and will whine and complain like spoiled brats until they get it. Then they post total bull *** on line thinking others will believe their bs. Get a life you dumb *** !!

Some people have unachiveable expectations about their cars and think that if it can't be fixed they shouldn't be charged for anything. They ignore the labor and work involved in reaching the conclusion that their car either can't be fixed or the cost would be excessive.

People who don't understand what it's like to take a Vintage car in for repairs

Do you think mechanics work for free ? anytime you go INSIDE any car over 25 years old, you hope they can fix it for the price quoted, The Next time you call a Plumber to unclog the kitchen sink and they quote you $199 and when they leave they charge you $399 because the main line was plugged......

you may be upset but you pay because..... it's the same thing here.. At Phantom Works or Bobs Plumbing....they gave you an ESTIMATE.....right.... did they tell you to pay in advance ?

ESTIMATE. I have a '97 Triple White Firebird Convertible w/38k and a '95 Triple Black T/A w/138k and every time I take them in I HOPE they come close to the ESTIMATE, when they don't it's because they are old and everything the shop touches is OLD.

I'm a plumber and if I go to a stopped up sink call I check other drains too like tub, shower, toilet and all sinks. If they're all clogged then I can assume it's the main or the last outlet before exiting the house.

I can go outside and look in a clean out to diagnose the clog. If I look in the outside clean out and see it's full then I know it's clogged in the yard. If it's empty then the clog is on the inside. My quotes are almost always accurate and if it turns out to be more than I estimated then I take a loss.

I make good money but if I have to do something really cheap bc I messed up then that's fine too bc my customers appreciate me more for being honest and going the extra mile to get them going. Taking a loss occasionally=repeat customers

Like you said, you’re a plumber. There’s thousands of parts to most cars. Your comparing a peach to a peanut.
